Frequently Asked Questions

Q. WILL I RECEIVE ALL OF THE FILES FROM MY SESSION?

A. In the 15 plus years of experience I have, I find clients are very overwhelmed when there are hundreds of images to pour through once they have downloaded their collection. So much so, they don’t ever do a single thing with the images. I often hear the client’s mom never gets the ordering done and the images just sit stagnant on a home computer. It’s my goal to make sure you get prints, wall arts or albums in your hands so you can feel, touch, see and display the finished product. Consider it art, because that’s exactly what it is. Your beautiful child + my photography = art on your wall, coffee table or desk for everyone who walks through the doors of your home to see. Something to keep forever. Too many times, nothing gets done with the images except for a share or two on social media. I do offer your entire collection in digital files and print products at a discounted price.

Q. WHAT IF WE HAVE BAD WEATHER?

A.  I mainly shoot outdoors; however, there are some local venues where we can shoot indoors but it’s mainly places that would lean more towards a themed session such as coffee houses or ice cream parlors. There are also some options for indoor studio shooting as well. As your senior photographer, I promise I have your best interests at heart; therefore, I reserve the right to reschedule your session when the weather is not in our favor. This usually happens if the wind is blowing over 25 mph, temperatures are below 40 degrees with a wind chill factor of less or if the temperatures are over 98 degrees during your shoot. If you are miserable in the wind, cold or heat, it will show in the pictures. I value your time and money way too much to allow you to shoot in these conditions. And we will always reschedule when there is rain and/or storms. Please keep all of this in mind when bad weather is in the forecast. I don’t like to reschedule as it drastically affects my shooting schedule and often times puts me behind but with Lubbock weather, it happens…and unfortunately, it happens often. If scheduling your senior’s session in the spring, make sure you have plenty of time left in the school year for these potential reschedules.

Q. WHERE DO YOU SHOOT?

A. As you know, Lubbock is pretty expansive but the pretty locations are limited. I have photographed clients at the Garden and Arts Center, the Texas Tech Horticulture Gardens, the art district and downtown areas, Mae Simmons area, open fields etc. We will discuss in detail what look you are going for and we will make it happen. I am also open to other areas not mentioned above.

Q. WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF DAY TO SHOOT?

A. My favorite time to shoot is “The Golden Hour.” This is considered the hour before sunset…it’s when the sun is the most beautiful and down far enough over the horizon that it does not project harsh shadows, like the middle afternoon sun does. During the summer, we will usually start around 7pm. During the fall, we will start around 5pm. All of this will change some depending on the time of year. Some days I will photograph more than one client and in that event, you will most likely shoot a couple of hours before sunset. This time slot will also provide for some beautiful sun and light for great portraits.

Q. What should I wear?

A. Ahhhh, the million dollar question! You and I will exchange texts or emails directly after you book and you can ask me any questions any time about anything - especially about outfits! Not only that, we will connect via a Zoom call (if it works with both of our schedules) a couple of weeks before your shoot to discuss your outfits and your wishes for your shoot. It is during that call we will come to an agreement on shoot locations, as well. Know this, if you want your photos to stand out, don’t play it safe. What does this mean? Be edgy, be sophisticated, be stylish. Bright colors, textures, accessories…these are the things you should consider when choosing your outfits. With having said that, you choose the outfits that make you feel comfortable. This is all super hard to describe in a paragraph - just know, I love to help style my seniors and I will 100% help you choose the outfits that best fit the look you are going for when planning your senior portrait session.

Q. WHERE CAN I GET GRADUATION ANNOUNCEMENTS?

A. I can do your announcements for an additional charge and I can also direct you to some great companies who design lovely cards.

Q. Can my dog, mother or sibling jump in for a few shots?

Absolutely, I highly recommend it!

Q. YOu don’t shoot weekends?

I work a full-time job plus this gig so I reserve my weekends for my personal life. I shoot Monday and Tuesday only with Wednesdays reserved for reschedules due to bad weather, illness, photographer reschedule etc. If this is a problem for you, unfortunately, I just might not be the photographer for you. There are a ton of great photographers in this area and I would be more than happy to recommend some to you. BUT, hopefully, you can make one of these evenings work with your schedule.

Q. Do you shoot anything other than seniors?

I only photography high school and college seniors and some teens with an occasional family who has worked with me in the past. I no longer shoot events, weddings, couples, children, maternity, newborns or families. Again, I can absolutely recommend some fab photogs to help you!
