Kenda’s Review of the iPhone

What an amazing piece of technology!!!  The iPhone, simply put, ROCKS!  As many of you know, I got an iPhone 3G a couple of weeks ago…I haven’t grown tired of it yet.  In fact, I can’t get enough of it.  Let’s Review:

The Good:

OMG!  There are so many good things to list but let’s start with the apparents…it’s slim, lightweight, a touchscreen and mine is white!!  So cool.  It’s totally an itty bitty pocket-sized computer.  There are only a few things an iPhone cannot do and I will list those later on in the post.  The iPhone is just that - a phone so let’s start with the review on the actual phone itself.  I can hear perfectly, the speakerphone rocks and getting in touch with anyone in my contact list is pretty simple as well.  The dialpad is big and easy to dial and it’s simple to go from one call to another.  You would have to have been under a rock for the past year and a half to not know the iPhone also has an iPod built into the apparatus.  This, my friend, is too cool.  If you haven’t seen an iPod Touch or an iPhone, the scrolling mechanism is just the neatest thing since sliced bread.  The camera simply rocks…check out the very first picture I took with my iPhone:

The iPod has the normal “stuff” most PDAs would have, including notepad, address book, calendar, calculator, text messaging, etc.  Aside from those, the applications that one can pick up from the Apps store are simply spellbinding.  (Yes, I said spellbinding!)  There are way too many to list but I will let you in on my favorites.  First of all, the one that really blows my mind is called Shazam.

Just like the ad says, you hold your iPhone up to the music (whether you be at a movie, in a store, in someone’s car, WHEREVER!) and this genius program will analyze the song and send you the title of the song…not only that, but it will tell you the artist and the album as well.  I played with it this morning and held it up to my laptop and started the song “A Murder of One” by the Counting Crows.  It recognized the song in just seconds…I was mystified!  (yes, I said mystified!)

Another app that keeps me entertained is the Facebook app for iPhone.  It’s so cool because I can keep up with my friends and send messages and even chat!!

And let us not forget Pandora for iPhone…too cool!  I can drive down the road and turn on Pandora and hook it up to my audio input in my car and I have a personalized radio!!  It’s so awesome.  If you haven’t gotten Pandora for your PC, go get it now!!

There are too many applications to list but when I run across another can’t-live-without app, I will be sure and let you know about it.  And now for…

The Bad:

Unfortunately, there is no way to take a picture and text it to someone.  I have to email the picture!!  That really blows but I can live without it, I guess.  There is no speed dial either and I really hate that because I could hold one letter down on my Blackberry and it would call that person assigned to that letter…I guess I can live without speed dial as well.

The Ugly:

Something I cannot live without is a battery!!  Let’s face it…this battery is beyond bad; it’s plain UGLY!!  My battery life is really, really bad.  At first, my battery was almost down by lunch but now that I have taken a few steps to increase the life, it’s better but still not great.  By lunch, I only have half a battery left and that’s without talking hardly at all.  I have to take a charger with me every where I go which also sucks.  How can Apple invent such an amazing phone and not make absolute sure the battery lasts at least a full working day???  I am hoping they will make some changes soon.

Even with a horrible battery life, RUN, DON’T WALK to your nearest AT&T store and get this little dude!!  He is my friend for life and I don’t know what I did without him before.  I love you little guy!!

More from the Starkey’s

Here are some more images from our evening at the Starkey’s house. Mom and Dad thought Ryne was cheezin’ his smiles but I think this next one is just too adorable. Look at those eyes and lips. Little sweetie!!! And how about those Alford twins?? They are the sweetest, cutest little kids. Presley is shy and so girlie; Jax comes out of his shell after a few minutes and his little boy side kicks in real quick. Great night!!

Meet Ryne and Ryder

My good friends, Jodi and Tracy, had us over for burgers last night. They have a beautiful home and their boys are to die for…I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take a few pictures of these future heart-breakers. I have more to post of some other cuties who were over at the Starkey’s last night as well but you’ll have to wait a day or two for those as I really need to get off this computer and get some things done. Thanks Starkeys! We had a great time.

Hey guys ~

Just a heads up…I now offer storyboards.  These keepsakes come in a rainbow of colors, a variety of sizes with a variety of openings.  These storyboards are backed with a sturdy matting allowing for display on an easel and they can be framed as well.  This particular example is of the beautiful Ashlynn and was designed to be a 20×16.  Please contact me if you are interested in getting one of these for your viewing pleasure.

More of Ashlynn

I worked on a few more of Ashlynn’s pictures from Sunday.  These are very similar to the ones I posted Monday but her expressions are a little different.  Which ones do you like?  I love pictures that focus on the eyes…and I love, love, love pictures when the child’s hair is a little disheveled.  It’s so real!!  Isn’t she just adorable?

Meet Ashlynn

I went to school for many years with a friend named Vangie. We were really close for a long time and then college came around and we kind of lost touch. College ended and we completely lost touch. I thought about her often…I wondered how she looked, who she married, how her life was! I saw her parents every once in a while and they would tell me about bits and pieces of her life but I still found myself wondering about her. Thankfully because of the internet, I don’t have to wonder any longer. Vangie found my blog and reached out to me a few months ago. We had dinner at my favorite restaurant in Dallas a few weeks ago, Papasitos. It was so nice to catch up with her. She looks exactly the same and her laugh, thank goodness, is just the same. Vangie is still a very good friend.

I had the pleasure of taking Vangie’s beautiful little daughter’s pictures yesterday. Ashlynn will soon be three and she is adorable. Seems her grandmother took her to Joyland yesterday, got her all worked up and exhausted. She was not ready for pictures in the least…looking at these beautiful pictures, you never could have guessed it. These are some of my favorites from our time together. Thanks Vangie and Joe for asking me to be Ashlynn’s photographer. I enjoyed every minute of it. Hope you like them!!
