First Day of School

As many of you know, not only did Blaze start his very first day of school but Kellyn also started a brand new school. Monday started out very difficult and ended very difficult…mommys are supposed to cry when they send their last child off to school but I cried HARD. I cried because I was leaving on a plane an hour after I got them settled into their new classrooms. I was going to California for a week of training. I didn’t end up getting on the plane as my dear husband’s father passed away Monday morning. It’s been a painful week but the healing process has started and our friends and family have been amazing. Poppa will be missed immensely. He loved my kiddos and he would have been so happy to see these pictures of them on their first day of school. Kellyn and Blaze now know they have a very special angel watching over them at all times.

I took this picture of Blaze and his pretty teacher, Mrs. Spears, on Open House the Thursday night before school started. He said he is going to marry her!  : )

Jacob and Amber are ENGAGED!

They met at work, their first date was at Chili’s and now they are getting married this next March here in Lubbock.  Jacob and Amber are tons of fun to be around and we have even attended a few crazy parties together BUT I never got to know them good enough.  After two hours of being in their faces with a camera, I know them much better.  These two are a blast and I love how sweet Jacob is with Amber.  They both graduated from Texas Tech so we thought it was only fitting to take most of their pictures on the Tech campus.  The last image is for their friend and my sister-in-law, Averi - we thought she would love this tender moment!!  (It’s totally a joke…these two could hardly keep their composure when we were taking this pic.)

Gotta love this statue…Get Your Guns Up!!  In case you didn’t know, on gameday, this guy is covered in red streamers…it’s a great tradition!

Hilarious…they duplicated the statue perfectly!

Stacy’s Bridals

Now I am having a blast with my new slideshow program. (Although I do have to figure out how to get the resolution sharper…these are so blurry!!) So, here is my beautiful friend, Stacy. She was married in early May. I took her bridals in April sometime. I then took her getting ready pictures on the day of her wedding. Isn’t she just lovely??

Matt and Tara

After several weeks of editing, I finally have my first ever wedding slideshow finished. Some of you may remember I second shot for Shan Renee a while back. I posted some of my favorites quite a while back but I have been swamped not only with job hunting and job training but also with my new website and blog design. I just got the ShowIt software after playing with it for a few weeks. It was no easy feat figuring out how to get the slideshow onto my blog but I finally did it!!!

Matt and Tara were an adorable couple and I enjoyed photographing them sooo much. Shan is really really good and I learned a lot from her. Thanks also to her friend, Kendall, who is also a darned good photographer.  Check out more of Matt and Tara at Shan Renee’s website!

Facing My Fears

If you have followed my blog in the past, you probably know one of my greatest fears is falling. Many people say they are afraid of heights. I can be thousands of feet up for hours at a time and not be afraid as long as I am protected and there is no chance of falling. Well, I checked into my hotel this past week to find I was staying in an atrium styled hotel. I stayed in room 916 - over 100 feet from the main floor of the hotel. I couldn’t believe it when I got off the elevator to find I could actually sleep walk right out of my door and fall to my death. I mean, there is a rail and all but it’s only chest high and what if I was dreaming I needed to get on top of that rail and jump??? So, on the last night of my stay, I decided to use my handy camera phone to take a picture of what was staring me in the face every morning and every evening. The first picture you see below was easy to take…I just had to stick the phone out in front of me and depress the button; however, the second image made my heart flutter and I even had to catch my breath after taking the picture. I had to point my phone towards the floor and that took all I had. I was terrified, truly terrifed!  After stepping back and heading into my room, I realized I had just risked my life.  And for what, my blog??  That’s insane.  I will never risk my life again for you people’s enjoyment.

My New Online Obsession

It has been so long since I have posted…as you may know, I have been in the DFW area training for the past week so I haven’t been taking many pictures.  I hope to change that soon.  I am not a big fan of taking pictures of my own children unless we are messing around; however, I need some practice so I may have to take them out somewhere tomorrow and make them pose for me.  We’ll see how that goes.  In the meantime, I must share with you this awesome website, Pandora.  It’s totally cool - go check it out when you get time.  Here is a screenshot of my favorite channels…what are yours??  (By the way, the Miley Cyrus channel is for my young daughter - although, I do have to admit I am really diggin’ her new stuff.)
